CEO PAY
An earlier statistic on this website listed CEO pay as 120
to 130 times the average worker's pay. The difference lies in different
methodology. Where We Stand considered the salary of the average
CEO to be $543,000 a year, which is 17.5 times that of the average worker's
pay of $31,000. However, Kevin Phillips included CEO fringe benefits and
compensation as well as pay in his comparison; he also compared it to the
average manufacturing wage, which is less than $31,000.
Clearly, full CEO pay and compensation is much greater than Where
We Stand suggests. But even by their limited definition, the U.S. has
the most unequal pay scale in the industrialized world.
